The Korea Customs Service announced on January 9 that it has produced a promotional video in the form of a drama titled 'Suspicious Guest' and released it as the first post of the year on its official YouTube channel.
The promotional video was produced and released to explain the Korea Customs Service's key functions and roles, which may be unfamiliar to the public, in a more accessible and entertaining way.
In particular, this video features popular comedians Kim Wonhun and Um Jiyun, moving away from the traditional, straightforward institutional introduction format and instead adopting a storytelling approach to enhance viewer engagement.
The video is structured around four episodes that take place inside a cafe, allowing viewers to immerse themselves as if they were watching a romantic comedy.
The episodes focus on vividly introducing the four main duties of customs: narcotics investigations, detector dog operations, international logistics monitoring, and export-import goods analysis.
In addition to releasing the main video, the Korea Customs Service is also producing short-form content for each episode and holding an event to collect viewer feedback. Furthermore, by sharing the promotional video with related associations and organizations, the agency aims to ensure that the video gains wide exposure through both online and offline channels.
Lee Myunggu, Commissioner of the Korea Customs Service, stated, "We planned the production of this promotional video to help more people understand and become familiar with the role of the Korea Customs Service," adding, "We will continue to adopt various communication methods tailored to the public's perspective so that customs administration can be seen as more approachable and relatable."
