On January 9, Hoengseong Eosaproducts Cooperative Business Corporation held a “Hoengseong Rice Eosajinmi U.S. Export Shipment Ceremony” at its headquarters (22 Hanwurojogok 8-gil), attended by over 20 people, including the Hoengseong County Governor, the Chair and members of the Hoengseong County Council, and officials from the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.

The total export volume is 19.7 tons, which will be supplied to consumers in the state of Maryland on the U.S. East Coast. Eosajinmi is a high-quality rice produced in the pristine natural environment of Hoengseong County and has been recognized for its taste and quality in overseas markets through a rigorous selection process.

In particular, Eosajinmi proved itself as a premium rice representing South Korea by winning the Grand Prize for the Leading Brand of Provincial Agricultural Cooperative Rice at the 11th Rice Day event hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs last year. Such outstanding domestic recognition has built trust among overseas buyers and is driving further export expansion.

The overseas expansion of Hoengseong rice has continued steadily over the past seven years. The county has broadened its sales channels not only to the United States but also to Canada, Hong Kong, and other regions around the world. In particular, in 2024, exports to the U.S. market alone reached a total of 98.8 tons, demonstrating rapid growth.

Jung Sungil, Head of Agricultural Policy, stated, “The continued export of Eosajinmi is an important indicator of the excellence of Hoengseong’s agricultural products on the global stage,” adding, “We will continue to provide administrative support to diversify export destinations and implement systematic quality management, thereby contributing to increased income for local farmers.”
