Some International Fans Request Acquisition of HYBE
MrBeast Says He Is "Trying to Understand the Situation"
Global Attention Focused on NewJeans Conflict and Lawsuit
MrBeast, the world's largest YouTuber, has personally responded to requests from some fans regarding the controversy surrounding the group NewJeans. On January 7, MrBeast attended the premiere event for the Amazon Prime Original "Beast Games Season 2," where he met with prominent American streamer Jason The Win and discussed the "NewJeans situation."
Previously, on January 6, local media outlet Empire reported through its official social networking service (SNS) account that "requests to help NewJeans are flooding the comments on MrBeast's TikTok and Instagram." Over the past week, some NewJeans fans have left comments on MrBeast's social media accounts such as "Please acquire HYBE," "Save NewJeans," and "Help Daniel." The hashtag "#MrBeastSaveNewJeans" has also been spreading.
In response, MrBeast said during a live broadcast, "I'm aware that NewJeans fans have recently been asking me to help them." He continued, "As far as I understand, Daniel is involved in a lawsuit worth around 30 million dollars (approximately 43 billion won), and people seem to be asking me to acquire the group." He then asked, "Are they actually up for sale right now?" MrBeast added, "I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do," and said, "I don't know if they're asking me to make a donation or to raise awareness about the situation."
Jason The Win explained, "It seems what Bunnies (the name of the NewJeans fandom) want is to raise awareness about this situation. That appears to be the main goal," and added, "They believe that if you buy Ador, you could save Daniel and help with the lawsuit issue." In response, MrBeast said, "Honestly, with a fandom that influential, wouldn't it be better to raise money through crowdfunding? I think we need to bring in a NewJeans fan who can properly explain the situation to us."
This commotion began on December 30 of last year, when NewJeans' agency Ador filed a lawsuit seeking damages of approximately 43 billion won against member Daniel, her family, and former CEO Min Heejin. Since then, some fans have launched an unprecedented campaign by seeking help from MrBeast, who has significant global influence. However, analysts point out that it is virtually impossible for MrBeast to acquire HYBE in reality. HYBE's market capitalization is around 14 trillion won, which far exceeds MrBeast's estimated net worth of about 2.6 billion dollars (approximately 3.76 trillion won).
