Seongdong District Mayor Jung Wono Thanks Residents for 12 Years of Transformation

In His Final New Year's Address
"I Will Achieve the Expansion of Happiness"

Jung Wono, Mayor of Seongdong District in Seoul, delivered his final New Year's address as mayor at the New Year's gathering on January 8. He stated, "In 2026, the fruits of the city we have built together will become even richer and spread even wider, achieving the 'expansion of happiness.'"

At the "2026 New Year's Gathering," attended by more than 2,000 residents, Mayor Jung expressed his gratitude to the citizens who have contributed to Seongdong's transformation over the past 12 years. He said, "Seongdong has shed its image as an old city center and has been reborn as a central city representing Seoul and a city that attracts attention and love from around the world."

He emphasized, "On every street in Seongdong, our residents have been present, and it is thanks to you that Seongdong is what it is today." Mayor Jung reflected on the 12 years he has walked together with the residents as he enters his final year in office, and he presented his vision for the future, saying, "In the new year, I will continue to take one step at a time so that citizens can feel real change and experience happiness in their daily lives."

This year's New Year's gathering was held under the theme of passion, challenge, and progress, symbolized by the red horse of the Year of Byeongo. The event featured joint performances by district choirs and a New Year's bow performance by kindergarten children. Residents from all generations, from children to seniors, as well as representatives from local institutions and organizations, participated in the festivities.
