This measure is in accordance with the 'Ordinance on the Prevention and Management of Damage Caused by Harmful Wild Animals in Goyang City,' which was enacted on September 30, 2025. It aims to reduce nuisances such as unpleasant odors, building damage, and the spread of diseases caused by harmful wild animals like pigeons.

The designated no-feeding zones include 10 locations frequently visited by citizens, such as Hwajeong Station Square, Ilsan Culture Square, Singing Fountain, Madu Station Square, Juyeop Station Square, Daehwa Station Square, Nakmin Park, Seolchun Children's Park, Gangsong Hill Park, and the area around Wondang Station.

Additionally, the city plans to implement a six-month guidance period starting in January 2026. From July 1, anyone caught feeding harmful wild animals (such as pigeons, crows, and magpies) within these zones will be subject to fines.

Violators will be fined 200,000 won for the first offense, 500,000 won for the second, and up to 1 million won for the third and subsequent offenses.

The city has completed the installation of banners with information at the sites and will continue to promote public awareness and conduct on-site inspections during the guidance period. These efforts are part of ongoing initiatives to manage the urban ecosystem and improve the environment.

A Goyang Special City official emphasized, "The feeding ban is not intended to exclude wild animals, but rather to serve as a minimum promise for the safe coexistence of people and animals. We ask for the active participation and cooperation of all citizens."

Through this policy, the city expects to encourage wild animals to find food naturally in their environment, which should also help resolve hygiene issues caused by pigeons and other animals gathering around feeding spots.
