Haenam County to Support Cultural and Arts Talent: "More Ambitious Than Other Local Governments"

Support for Three Areas: Professional Arts, Organizational Activities, and Talent Donation

Haenam County in South Jeolla Province will launch a cultural and arts promotion fund project worth 350 million KRW this year to foster local cultural and artistic talent.

According to Haenam County on January 8, applications for the 2026 Cultural and Arts Promotion Fund will be accepted from local cultural and arts organizations and artists until January 15.

The support program covers three areas: support for professional arts, support for activities of cultural and arts organizations, and support for talent donation cultural and arts groups.

Professional arts support is available to incorporated associations, professional arts corporations, professional arts organizations, or individuals with an arts activity certificate who have held at least three exhibitions or performances in the past three years. Support is provided on a sliding scale, up to a maximum of 12 million KRW.

Support for activities of cultural and arts organizations targets groups with at least 15 members who have been active at least twice over the past two years in the fields of literature, fine arts, performing arts, traditional arts, or integrated arts. The maximum grant is 6 million KRW.

Support for talent donation cultural and arts groups is provided for outreach performance programs at community centers in township-level villages or care facilities in culturally underserved areas, with 500,000 KRW granted per performance.

Applications can be submitted in person at the county’s Culture and Arts Division or by mail until January 15. The Haenam County Cultural and Arts Promotion Fund increased by 200 million KRW this year, from 150 million KRW in 2024 to 350 million KRW.

A county official stated, "The Haenam County Cultural and Arts Promotion Fund is operated on a larger scale compared to other local governments," adding, "We hope that many cultural and arts organizations and individuals will participate and that this will support their creative activities."
