Requesting Payment for Purchases After Impersonating Employees
The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has issued a warning regarding phishing crimes involving individuals impersonating its employees.
On January 8, KOTRA announced that phishing crimes impersonating its employees have been on the rise recently, urging companies to exercise caution. According to KOTRA, the impersonators have been targeting companies that have previously conducted business with KOTRA, sending forged documents such as business cards, purchase orders, and tax invoices. After presenting a supposed purchase plan, they request the targeted companies to pay for goods on their behalf, resulting in financial losses.
