Hyeonjin Bae: "Filthy Messages Unfit Even for My Daughter in Her Next Life... I Will 'Award a Star'"

"Oppose Yoon's Impeachment"... Party Member Fined for "Text Bombs"
"Many Lawmakers Suffer... Legal and Financial Penalties Needed"

It was belatedly revealed that a member of the People Power Party was fined for sending 44 text messages to Assemblywoman Hyeonjin Bae of the People Power Party, including requests such as "Please prevent the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol." Assemblywoman Bae warned that she will not show leniency in the future toward those who interfere with her legislative activities, such as by sending sexually harassing messages.

On January 8, Assemblywoman Bae wrote on her Facebook page, "I have always respected the party line," and added, "After the December 3 Martial Law, as soon as the situation seemed to settle, people whose lives are captivated by the nonsensical words of YouTubers rushed to beg for attention and sent filthy messages mixed with sexual harassment-messages they would never send to their own daughters, not even in another life." She continued, "Many lawmakers suffer from this to the extent that they cannot even see normal work-related messages every day," and added, "This is how I give you your star. You need to be treated by the law and financial penalties."

According to legal sources, a People Power Party member, identified as A, was recently fined 3 million won for violating the Stalking Punishment Act and the Information and Communications Network Act. A was accused of repeatedly sending text messages to Assemblywoman Bae 44 times from December 2024, immediately after the December 3 Martial Law declaration, until March of the previous year.

It is reported that A stated the motive for the crime was anger at Assemblywoman Bae for "not following the People Power Party line and acting independently." Previously, on December 4, 2024, the day after former President Yoon’s declaration of martial law, Assemblywoman Bae wrote on her Facebook page, "For any reason, I can never support a politically motivated act of suicide without justification." She did not attend the first impeachment vote against former President Yoon, but she did attend the second impeachment vote.
