A complex cultural center equipped with community facilities and the functions of a national sports center will be built in Junghwasan-dong, Wansan-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk.

According to Jeonju-si on January 8, the "Senior-Friendly National Sports Center (Complex Cultural Facility) Construction Project in Junghwasan-dong" was finally selected for the national sports center construction support program organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, securing 4 billion won in national funding.

This program was promoted for local governments nationwide to expand sports infrastructure for daily life. With this selection, Jeonju-si can accelerate the project while reducing its own financial burden.

The senior-friendly national sports center in Junghwasan-dong will be centered around various sports facilities for daily use, such as a multipurpose gymnasium and a group exercise room. In addition, it will include various program rooms and community spaces for residents, making it an open complex cultural facility where all generations, including the elderly, can communicate and participate together.

During the application process, the city received high marks for presenting concrete statistics on the rapidly increasing elderly population in the region and the current shortage of sports facilities. In particular, the emphasis on the need for facilities that can simultaneously meet the health management and social interaction needs of the elderly proved effective. It is also known that the active interest and support of National Assemblyman Kim Yoonduk played a significant role in this process.

No Eunyoung, Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Jeonju-si, stated, "We will continue to expand cultural and sports infrastructure that reflects the characteristics of the region and the needs of citizens," adding, "We will do our best to make Jeonju a healthy and happy city for all generations."
