YG Surpasses 400 Million Won in Cumulative Donations for Children with Hearing Loss

Expansion to Include Public Awareness Campaigns in 2026

YG Surpasses 400 Million Won in Cumulative Donations for Children with Hearing Loss Provided by YG Entertainment

YG Entertainment announced on January 8 that the total amount of donations provided to support children with cochlear implants at Seoul National University Children's Hospital has surpassed 400 million won.

YG began its support program in 2023. The company has been providing financial assistance for cochlear implant surgeries and rehabilitation therapy to children with hearing loss who face financial difficulties and fall outside the scope of government support.

To overcome the technical limitations that make it difficult to distinguish pitch and tone even after surgery, YG has also focused on developing music-based auditory rehabilitation research. For this purpose, the company has collaborated with Seoul National University Children's Hospital and digital therapeutics developer Bell Therapeutics to support the development of rehabilitation programs. YG is the first in the domestic entertainment industry to sponsor not only surgery costs but also the development of music rehabilitation programs.

The results of these research efforts have been presented at six major academic conferences both in Korea and abroad, including the Cochlear Implants in Children (CI2025) conference in the United States and the International Congress of Otorhinolaryngology (ICORL) hosted by the Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

YG stated, "Starting in 2026, we will operate exchange programs for children and their guardians and launch public awareness campaigns to promote social understanding of cochlear implants." The company also announced its commitment to continue collaborating to improve music accessibility for children, going beyond treatment and rehabilitation.
