Operating 83 Designated Advertising Boards
Plans to Add 4 More in 2026
Donghae City in Gangwon Province is continuously carrying out year-round maintenance of illegal outdoor advertisements to prevent the deterioration of the cityscape and ensure citizen safety.
The targets of this maintenance include banners, posters, and flyers that have been illegally installed on streetlights, at major intersections, and around crosswalks. Through ongoing monitoring, any violations are immediately removed without prior notice in accordance with the Act on the Management of Outdoor Advertisements and Promotion of Outdoor Advertisement Industry.
In 2025, Donghae City removed a total of 20,230 illegal outdoor advertisements. This included 12,966 posters, 4,624 banners, and 2,640 flyers.
Currently, the city operates a total of 83 designated advertising boards. This year, it plans to install four additional boards to further expand legal advertising spaces. The city also intends to actively guide the use of these designated boards to reduce illegal postings and foster a proper advertising culture.
Kim Bonghak, Director of the Urban Department, stated, "Illegal banners not only damage the cityscape but also pose a serious threat to the safety of pedestrians and drivers. We will continue to strengthen management, supervision, and maintenance to ensure citizen safety and create a pleasant urban environment."
