42dot Joins "Eclipse Foundation" to Promote Open Collaboration for SDV

42dot announced on January 8 that it will participate in the Eclipse Foundation, an automotive open-source software foundation organized by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), to promote open collaboration.

42dot has signed a memorandum of understanding with the German Association of the Automotive Industry with the goal of establishing an open-source software ecosystem for automotive-grade solutions. Through this agreement, the company will launch collaborative projects with 32 global companies spanning the entire automotive industry.

This project will focus on "Eclipse S-CORE," an automotive-grade open-source software platform led by the foundation's working group, "Eclipse SDV." A diverse group of global companies representing the automotive industry-including 42dot, automakers, parts and software suppliers, semiconductor firms, and cloud specialists-will participate in the initiative.

Through this collaboration, participating companies expect to reduce the time and costs required for development, integration, and maintenance in non-differentiated software areas by up to 40%. Additionally, by leveraging common automotive components, they anticipate shortening time-to-market by as much as 30%.

By participating in "Eclipse SDV," 42dot plans to link its ongoing development of the SDV full-stack platform and software capabilities with the global open-source ecosystem, and to design safer automotive software in order to build a foundation of trust.
