On January 7, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it held the "2026 Namyangju City Social Welfare New Year's Meeting" at the Gyeonggi Viewer Media Center together with the Namyangju City Social Welfare Council (Chairman Jeong Hyuncheol). During the event, participants shared the city's welfare vision for the new year and pledged to strengthen public-private cooperation.

The New Year's meeting was attended by approximately 120 people, including Joo Kwangdeok, Mayor of Namyangju City, as well as representatives from local social welfare facilities, organizations, and institutions. The event began with a New Year's address by Chairman Jeong Hyuncheol, followed by New Year's greetings from Mayor Joo Kwangdeok and Lee Kyungsook, Chairperson of the City Council's Welfare and Environment Committee. The program also included a rice cake cutting ceremony and a reception.
The event was held in a relaxed and interactive atmosphere, focusing on communication and empathy. Attendees shared the goal of creating a sustainable welfare environment through mutual communication and solidarity, and committed to improving the quality of life for citizens in the new year.
Mayor Joo Kwangdeok expressed his gratitude to social welfare professionals for their close cooperation in the field despite various changes in the welfare environment last year. He stated, "Going forward, the public and private sectors will continue to work together to realize community welfare and make Namyangju a warm and caring city."
Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2006, the Namyangju City Social Welfare Council has built a cooperative network among local social welfare facilities, organizations, and institutions. Through a range of activities-including coordination and consultation between organizations, hosting social welfare forums, operating social welfare volunteer programs, and organizing Social Welfare Day commemorative events-the council has contributed to the development of local welfare.
