KEPCO Technology Integrated into LS Cable's Asset Management Platform
LS Cable is set to commercialize a global asset management solution that integrates real-time cable diagnostic technology in partnership with Korea Electric Power Corporation. The company aims to secure successful references from projects such as the West Coast Energy Highway, which will be fully launched this year, and to prove the competitiveness of "K-Electric Power" in the global market.
On January 8, LS Cable announced that it had signed a contract with Korea Electric Power Corporation at CES 2026, the world's largest wire and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, for the "Commercialization of Cable Condition Assessment Technology (SFL-R) and Joint Entry into the Global Market." The two companies will collaborate to strengthen the integrated manufacturing and operation solution capabilities of Korea's power industry.

The core of this commercialization initiative targeting the global market is the application of Korea Electric Power Corporation's "SFL-R" technology to LS Cable's underground and submarine cable asset management platform. SFL-R is a technology that utilizes real-time current monitoring and noise reduction techniques to detect fault locations with over 99% accuracy in the event of a cable failure. This technology is currently being applied and operated in major power grids such as the Jeju High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) system, and has demonstrated its performance as a long-distance HVDC cable monitoring technology using real-time current signal measurement.
With this technology integration, LS Cable plans to provide customized asset management services covering both general diagnostics and real-time precision diagnostics. In particular, LS Cable and Korea Electric Power Corporation expect that this collaborative model will be applied for the first time to the "West Coast Energy Highway Project," which will be fully launched this year. If successful references are secured based on this, it is anticipated that their expansion into the global market will accelerate further.
LS Cable CEO Koo Bonkyu stated, "By combining LS Cable's world-class manufacturing and construction technology with Korea Electric Power Corporation's operational expertise, we have established a system for intelligent power grid solutions that will lead the global energy transition era. We will secure substantial references that are vital to national infrastructure security, such as the West Coast Energy Highway, and demonstrate the overwhelming competitiveness of 'K-Electric Power' in the global power grid market."
