Lost LIV Golf Tour Card, Competing in Promotion Event
A Return Possible Only by Finishing Top 3 Out of 83 Players
"I Will Live My Life Recognizing the Importance of My Beloved Family"
Anthony Kim (USA) is making another attempt at LIV Golf.
On January 7 (local time), ahead of the LIV Golf Promotion, which offers entry into the new season and has a total prize fund of 1.5 million dollars, he confessed, "Over the past year, I realized there are things more precious than golf." He added, "I enjoyed traveling the world with my family while participating in LIV Golf events. I don't know if I will get the same opportunity again this year, but I will continue to live my life recognizing the importance of my beloved family."
Anthony Kim was once a star player who drew attention as a 'golf prodigy.' At one point, he reached as high as sixth in the world rankings. By 2010, at the age of 25, he had won three titles on the PGA Tour, making a huge impact, but he suddenly disappeared from the scene before turning 30.
In February last year, he revealed on social media that "to ease the pain, I drank and used drugs every day, and even when I was performing well on the PGA Tour, I relied on substances." He also pledged, "I decided to get back up because I feel a responsibility to take care of my daughter."
Anthony Kim participated in 13 tournaments during the 2025 season as a member of LIV Golf. His performance, however, was disappointing. He finished near the bottom, ranking 55th, and lost his tour card. He has decided to take on the challenge once again through this promotion. A comeback will not be easy. Out of the 83 players competing in this event, only those who finish in the top three will be able to play on LIV Golf again next year.
Anthony Kim said, "My perspective on life has changed," adding, "It would be great to earn a spot on LIV Golf, but it's not the only goal I have left. Life is much bigger and more precious than golf."
