Im Seonghwa, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council representing Gwangcheon-dong, Yudeok-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Sangmu 1-dong, and Dongcheon-dong, received the "Korea Legislative Service Award" at the 2025 Local Legislative Service Awards Ceremony hosted by the Council of Chairpersons of Gwangju Metropolitan City District Councils.
The "Korea Legislative Service Award" presented by the Council of Chairpersons of Korea City, County, and District Councils is awarded to local council members recognized for their outstanding sense of duty, spirit of service, and dedicated legislative activities that contribute to the development of local governance and community harmony.
Council member Im has previously served as Secretary-General of the Community Social Security Council and as Director of the Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, earning high praise for her deep understanding of customized welfare services for various generations, as well as her strong capabilities in cooperation and communication.
Building on this field experience and expertise, she has actively engaged in a range of practical, community-focused legislative activities as a member of the 9th Seo-gu Council.
In particular, she has spearheaded and enacted pioneering policies such as ordinances for alleviating child housing poverty, protecting labor rights, and designating "Youth Day" for children and youth-who represent the future generation and are among the socially vulnerable. She has also introduced ordinances supporting the prevention of traffic accidents involving elderly drivers and supporting single-person households.
Council member Im stated, "While carrying out my legislative duties under the motto 'Sincerity in Action,' I have received genuine support and encouragement from so many people. I will continue to reflect on each and every one of them, and pursue not 'politics for the next,' but 'politics for difference.' I am deeply grateful."
