Coupang Incident Damage Reporting Center for Small Business Owners
Reports Accepted via KFMEA Official Website
The Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise Associations (KFMEA) announced on January 8 that, in cooperation with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, it will operate a "Coupang Incident Damage Reporting Center" for small business owners.
Recently, as the "Coupang withdrawal" movement has been spreading among consumers, concerns are growing about declining sales for small businesses registered on the platform. KFMEA plans to open the reporting center on its official website to systematically identify the damage being suffered.
The reporting center will operate as an online channel, and any small business owner who has experienced direct or indirect damage, such as a decrease in sales, can submit a report.
In addition, KFMEA will conduct a survey on damages related to the Coupang incident through its member companies and regional associations. Based on the results of this survey, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will assess the current situation of Coupang-registered businesses and devise support measures. All reported cases will be shared with the "Coupang Incident Pan-Governmental Task Force," which will seek government-level response strategies.
Song Chiyoung, President of KFMEA, stated, "It has now been two months since the Coupang incident began, yet no one has taken responsibility, and the suffering of small business owners on Coupang has reached its peak. It is highly significant that the leading organization for small businesses is directly receiving damage reports from Coupang-registered small business owners, delivering them to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and seeking government-wide countermeasures."
