Lee Yangsoo was appointed as Director of the National Gimhae Museum as of January 1.
The new director graduated from the Department of Archaeology at Pusan National University and completed his master's and doctoral degrees in archaeology at the same university's graduate school. He has served in various roles at the National Museum of Korea, including the Archaeology Department, Planning and Coordination Department, Archaeology and History Department, and Exhibition Department, as well as at the Museum Policy Division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He has also held positions as Head Curator at the National Gimhae Museum and the National Jinju Museum, and as Director of the National Cheongju Museum.
Director Lee stated, "Going forward, I hope to raise the profile of the National Gimhae Museum internationally and introduce more examples from other countries, such as Greek city-states similar to Gaya, to the Korean public."
