BMW New M5 Touring Named "Car of the Month" by Automobile Journalists Association for January

Explosive Driving Performance and Spatial Versatility

The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on January 7 that it has selected the "BMW New M5 Touring" as the "Car of the Month" for January.

Among the new cars released last month, the BMW New M5 Touring and Hyundai Motor Company's The New Staria were nominated, and the BMW New M5 Touring was ultimately selected after receiving 35.7 points out of a possible 50.

The BMW New M5 Touring scored 8 out of 10 points in the power performance category, 7.7 points in the exterior and interior design and emotional quality, safety, and convenience features categories, and 6.3 points in the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions category.

Jung Chiyoun, Chair of the Car of the Year Selection Committee, stated, "This is an ultra-high-performance touring model that combines the explosive driving performance of the M model with the spatial versatility of a wagon. The combination of the M TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor achieves a maximum output of 727 horsepower and a peak torque of 101.9 kg·m, with acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, which showcases the technological prowess of BMW M."

He further evaluated, "The ability to drive up to 55 kilometers in pure electric mode enhances both efficiency and practicality for everyday driving."
