Invitation Extended to 600 Including Young Family Caregivers
Supporting Emotional Recovery and Family Empathy
Seo District of Gwangju Metropolitan City, in collaboration with the Community Social Security Council, has organized a special performance for those who are culturally marginalized.
On January 9 and 10, Seo District will invite 600 individuals from vulnerable groups-including young family caregivers, single-parent families, multicultural families, grandparent-headed households, and low-income households with a median income at or below 100%-to attend a stage production of the play "Manseon" at the Seobitmaru Arts Center.
This initiative is part of a public-private partnership cultural welfare program designed to support emotional recovery and foster empathy for family relationships.
It is particularly meaningful in that it provides tailored cultural support to those who are often excluded from cultural activities due to the burdens of caregiving and making a living.
The play "Manseon" is a family drama set on a small fishing boat adrift in the middle of the East Sea. It realistically depicts human life, where love and resentment, responsibility and resignation intersect, and is expected to deliver a profound message. Since its premiere in 2011, this work has continued to receive widespread acclaim.
An official from Seo District stated, "Culture is an important welfare tool that helps restore lives," adding, "We hope that supporting attendance at this play will provide comfort and empathy to the culturally marginalized and serve as an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of family and life."
