Organizational Expansion Expected to Improve Administrative Services
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that Yangji-eup in Cheoin-gu, which was upgraded from a myeon (township) to an eup (town), held its opening ceremony on the 6th and officially began operations.

Yangji-eup received approval for its status upgrade from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in September last year and was officially promoted to eup status on the 2nd of this month.
With this upgrade, the organization of Yangji-eup expanded from 4 teams and 23 staff members to 5 teams and 26 staff members, now consisting of the General Affairs Team, Customized Welfare Team, Civil Affairs Team, Industry Team, and Construction Team. As a result, the convenience of administrative services closely related to residents' daily lives and the level of welfare services are expected to improve.
About 200 people attended the opening ceremony, including Mayor Lee Sangil of Yongin City, representatives from local institutions and organizations, the residents' autonomy committee, and community leaders.
Mayor Lee Sangil stated, "The upgrade of Yangji-eup is the result of the combined efforts of citizens and public officials," adding, "We will continue to strive to build an even better city in the future."
