Daejeon City Selects Kim Honggyun of Hyupjin Transportation as 2025 "Bus Courtesy King"

Daejeon City has selected Kim Honggyun of Hyupjin Transportation as an exemplary bus driver for his courteous and safe operation of city buses throughout 2025.

On January 7, the city presented Kim Honggyun with the top courtesy award, the "BUS-KING" commendation plaque.

The BUS-KING program is designed to discover and encourage bus drivers who demonstrate courteous service and safe driving on city buses, the mode of transportation closest to citizens’ daily lives. The selection is conducted fairly through on-site, anonymous evaluations by a citizen monitoring team, who ride the buses themselves.

Kim Honggyun, chosen as the top courtesy awardee for 2025, operates route 301 and received high marks for his meticulous attention to passenger safety and comfort, such as consistently making announcements like, "We are departing. Please hold onto the handrails."

Nam Sideok, Director of Daejeon City's Transportation Bureau, stated, "The courtesy and safe driving of city bus drivers, who are closest to citizens’ daily lives, contribute to the dignity of Daejeon City. We will continue to discover and encourage drivers who quietly fulfill their roles on the front lines."
