On January 7, Daewoo E&C announced that it has established lighting design standards that can be applied throughout the communal (community) spaces for residents of its high-end apartment brand, Summit. The company explained that it created these standards based on the belief that community spaces within a complex are not simply auxiliary facilities, but play a crucial role in enhancing resident satisfaction.
Previously, the company has focused on multi-sensory marketing by incorporating content related to various senses-such as scent (olfactory), music (auditory), and media art (visual)-into its apartments. Lighting is considered an element that not only shapes the first impression of a space but also influences the emotions experienced while staying there. The core concept of the lighting design standards presented by the company is "profound light." The aim was to create a comfortable and luxurious atmosphere by applying the impression of light as experienced in nature to residential spaces.
These standards are applied to all major community spaces within the complex, including the sky lounge, guest house, swimming pool, fitness center, sauna, and library. Rather than simply serving as a means to secure brightness, lighting was defined as a key element that determines the character of each space, based on its function and intended use. The company carefully considered factors such as illuminance levels, color temperature, glare control methods, lighting placement, and production techniques.
The company also sought to reflect the colors and movements of nature in its lighting effects. The sky lounge media facade features content inspired by the sky. The concept of color therapy was also introduced, with the aim of inducing effects such as psychological stability, relaxation, and increased vitality through color temperature and lighting direction. A company representative stated, "These lighting design guidelines are the result of materializing our long-pursued spatial philosophy and lifestyle values through light," adding, "We will actively consider introducing them to major redevelopment projects in Seoul that require high-end design, such as Seongsu District 4 and Yeouido Demonstration Apartments."
