Seongnam City to Offer 120 Free Screenings of "Classic Hollywood Movies" for Single-Person Households

A Cultural Exchange Program Bridging Middle-Aged and Young Generations

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will offer a total of 120 free screenings of “Classic Hollywood Movies” at the 1-Person Household Healing Space Community Hall (4th floor, 100 Dunchon-daero, Jungwon-gu) until February 28.

This movie screening event is designed to provide middle-aged single-person households with an opportunity for healing and sharing emotions from their generation, while also offering younger single-person households a chance to enjoy a broader range of cultural and leisure activities.

The lineup features 24 films, including: Gone with the Wind, A Streetcar Named Desire, Roman Holiday, The Philadelphia Story, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Top Gun, Romeo and Juliet, Rebel Without a Cause, Casablanca, and River of No Return, among others.

The selected films showcase performances by legendary Hollywood actors such as Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, and James Dean.

Screenings will be held in accordance with the Healing Space’s operating hours.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, there will be three screenings per day: the first at 10:30 a.m., the second at 4:00 p.m., and the third at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, there will be two screenings per day: at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Each screening can accommodate approximately 10 viewers.

To attend, residents can apply via Seongnam City’s lifelong learning integrated platform, “Baeumsoop.”

Alternatively, visitors may enter the Seongnam City 1-Person Household Healing Space on the day of the screening without prior registration.

A city official stated, “This program will serve as a platform for cultural exchange between the middle-aged and younger generations,” and added, “The 1-Person Household Healing Space will continue to host monthly themed screenings, such as dance movies, music movies, Marvel movies, Hong Kong movies, Disney movies, and film series, through the end of the year.”

The Seongnam City 1-Person Household Healing Space is the nation’s first directly operated support facility for single-person households, established on July 18, 2023.

It plays a policy role in supporting single-person households (134,409 households), which account for 35.1% of the 383,004 households in the Seongnam area.

In addition to these movie screenings, the facility offers a variety of programs, including psychological counseling, leisure and networking support, health and financial education, and a shared kitchen.

The Healing Space operates from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.
