Expansion to 170 Good Price Businesses, the Highest Among Seoul Districts
Gwanak District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Junhee) has been selected as an outstanding institution in the "2025 Local Price Stability Management Assessment" organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special grant of 20 million won.
Gwanak District has received an outstanding or higher rating for three consecutive years, being rated as excellent in 2023, best in 2024, and outstanding again this year. The total amount of special grants secured over the past three years is 100 million won.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluated 243 local governments nationwide on their management of local public utility charges, support for the activation of good price businesses, efforts to eradicate price gouging, and the investigation and disclosure of price information. Gwanak District was recognized for proactively implementing tailored price stabilization measures during key periods such as holidays, vacation seasons, and kimchi-making season.
The district has operated a price stabilization situation room at all times, focusing on cracking down on price gouging and unfair business practices. The number of good price businesses was significantly increased from 119 to 170. By providing incentives from its own budget and holding promotional events, Gwanak District now has the highest number of good price businesses among Seoul’s autonomous districts. In April last year, the "10,000th Good Price Business" in the nation was established within the district.
District Mayor Park Junhee stated, "Despite the challenging economic conditions of high interest rates, high inflation, and a strong dollar, we were able to achieve the honor of being selected as an outstanding institution for three consecutive years thanks to the active efforts and cooperation of our residents for price stability. We will continue to implement highly effective price stabilization policies moving forward."
