Event to Be Held on April 11 with Four Course Options

Yangcheon District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Kijae) is now recruiting participants for the 15th Yangcheon Marathon, the “Cherry Blossom Run,” which will take place against the backdrop of springtime Anyangcheon.

Starting at 10 a.m. on January 8, registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for 5,000 participants. The marathon will be held on April 11, beginning at the Haemaru Soccer Field along Anyangcheon, and will feature four courses: 5 km, 5 km Family Run, 10 km, and Half Marathon.

This year, the course has been redesigned to follow the cherry blossom path along Anyangcheon and the riverside of the Han River, allowing runners to enjoy a blend of urban and natural scenery. Notably, Lee Bongju, the “national marathoner” and ambassador for the Yangcheon Marathon, will join the 5 km course. As this event is accessible to people of all ages and abilities and fills up quickly each year as soon as registration opens, early application is recommended.

On the day of the marathon, a variety of events will be held, including photo zones, experience booths, and performances, creating a festive atmosphere for participants, their families, and supporters to enjoy together.

All participants will receive a commemorative event T-shirt. In addition, those running the Half Marathon and 10 km courses will receive a running belt, while participants in the 5 km and Family Run will be given a backpack.

To provide the best possible running environment, the district will set up changing rooms and baggage storage booths exclusively for runners, and will operate water stations and snack tables every 2.5 km. In addition, 200 professional safety personnel will be on site, and a bicycle race patrol trained in CPR will monitor the course to respond quickly to any emergencies, such as injuries or dropouts.

Applications can be submitted through the official Yangcheon Marathon website (https://www.ycrun.com/).

Lee Kijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, “After resuming in 2023 for the first time in eight years, the Yangcheon Marathon has now established itself as Yangcheon’s signature sports event, drawing runners from across the country. We have prepared this year’s event so that participants can experience the unique charm of the Yangcheon Marathon while running along the cherry blossom path, and I hope many residents will join us.”
