Agreement Reached with Chungnam Province, Daejeon City, Jungbu Express, and Daejeon Complex Terminal
Geumsan County's long-awaited project to have intercity buses stop at Daejeon Station will be implemented starting in March 2026.
Geumsan County will begin operating intercity buses bound for Daejeon Complex Terminal via Daejeon Station from March, following the approval of changes to the Chungnam Province business plan and other necessary procedures. This aims to improve the convenience of using regional transportation such as trains for Geumsan residents and to enhance accessibility for visitors.
The plan to have intercity buses stop at Daejeon Station has been continuously pursued for over a decade, but was temporarily suspended due to difficulties in coordinating with stakeholders and concerns over traffic congestion at Daejeon Station.
Since 2023, the county has resumed discussions with Chungnam Province, Daejeon City, Jungbu Express, and Daejeon Complex Terminal regarding the Daejeon Station stop, and reached a broad agreement last year.
Considering potential traffic congestion near Daejeon Station due to the tram project and Jungbu Express’s compliance with the 52-hour workweek, a new stop has been established at Dong Square, a seven-minute walk from Daejeon Station.
Lee Seokyoung, Director of the Construction and Transportation Division, said, "I would like to thank the relevant administrative agencies, Jungbu Express, and Daejeon Complex Terminal officials for their cooperation in implementing the Daejeon Station stop, which has been a long-standing goal for Geumsan County. We will continue our efforts to improve regional transportation convenience for our residents."
