The New Year's Meeting was attended by Jung Youngbae, Chairman of Seongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Kim Sungjung, Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs 1 of Gyeonggi Province; Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam; Kim Taenyon, National Assembly member; Lee Sujin, National Assembly member; Kim Eunhye, National Assembly member; Jang Jaejin, Chairman of Seongnam Industrial Complex Management Corporation; and 200 other key figures from the government, political, and business sectors.

In his New Year's address, Jung Youngbae, Chairman of Seongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, "Although the economic conditions in 2026 are not easy, if we, as the main players in the economy, once again demonstrate our strength and passion to move forward, we will be able to overcome these challenges wisely."

He added, "This year, Seongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry will not only promote digital innovation projects such as operating the System Semiconductor Cluster Association and holding a Startup Business Competition, but will also make every effort to ensure that Seongnam City establishes itself as a specialized city for the system semiconductor cluster. We will also focus on identifying, investigating, researching, and proposing policy solutions for key issues related to regional industrial development."

He further emphasized, "Just like the four-character idiom 'Jagangbulshik,' which means 'strengthening oneself and making tireless efforts' and was selected by the small and medium-sized business community for 2026, all entrepreneurs are facing difficulties due to complex internal and external economic crises, but let us enhance our competitiveness and overcome these challenges together."

Kim Sungjung, Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs 1 of Gyeonggi Province, who attended on behalf of Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon, stated that 2026 will be a year of unceasing progress. He said, "Gyeonggi Province has established three principles to support businesses: on-site focus, swift response, and bold solutions that do not simply follow precedents."

He continued, "Centered around Pangyo Techno Valley, Seongnam is the hub of Korea's innovation economy in ICT, bio, and semiconductors. Gyeonggi Province will do its utmost to provide tailored support for businesses and resolve management difficulties through bold administration that goes beyond conventional practices, so that companies in Seongnam can overcome complex economic crises and soar even higher."

Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam, said, "Despite last year's difficult circumstances, Korea was able to maintain its status as an export powerhouse thanks to the hard work of entrepreneurs. In 2026, Seongnam City will spare no effort in supporting businesses to create a robust corporate environment that can withstand any external shocks."

National Assembly members also expressed their commitment to supporting businesses, wishing for economic development and the growth and advancement of entrepreneurs in 2026. Kim Taenyon, National Assembly member, said, "In this era of the AI revolution, I will actively support the removal of unnecessary regulations and the creation of a business-friendly environment so that Seongnam can stand at the center of this transformation."

Kim Eunhye, National Assembly member, likened herself to a team leader leveling rough land for construction, saying, "I will remove the sandbags of regulation so that businesses can run freely, and pave the way for them to speed down the highway," expressing her support for the vigorous leap forward of entrepreneurs in 2026.
