Onneung is the royal tomb of Queen Dangyeong, the first wife of King Jungjong of the Joseon Dynasty. It has been designated as National Historic Site No. 210 and is also listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
This event was organized by the Onneung Bonghyanghoe and hosted by the Royal Tombs Management Office of the Cultural Heritage Administration, with about 200 participants including officials and citizens. The ceremony proceeded in the following order: ritual officer customs, Jeonhyangnye, Chohonrye, Aheonrye, Jongheonrye, Mangnyorye, and Yepil.
Participants solemnly honored the memory of Queen Dangyeong, reflecting on her wisdom in protecting King Jungjong during times of crisis and commemorating the moral spirit of the sages through the ancestral rites.
A Yangju City official stated, "We would like to express our sincere gratitude once again to all the officials and citizens who joined us for this meaningful occasion despite the cold weather," adding, "We will continue to cooperate with relevant organizations to ensure the smooth preservation and management of our cultural heritage."
