A company CEO in his 50s has been arrested by police and is under investigation for failing to pay tens of millions of won in employee social insurance premiums.

On January 6, Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced that it had arrested Mr. A, a construction company CEO in his 50s, on charges of occupational embezzlement for failing to pay employee social insurance premiums.

Mr. A is accused of not paying 68 million won in social insurance premiums, including amounts withheld from employees' salaries, over a period of approximately 10 years.

The police received a complaint from the National Pension Service and, after repeatedly summoning Mr. A to appear, issued an arrest warrant when he failed to comply.

During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated that he was unable to pay the insurance premiums due to the company's financial difficulties.

The police plan to conduct a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. A's actions.
