Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) has launched major on-site inspections to revitalize the local economy and build a future-oriented industrial ecosystem as the new year begins.

The city is reviewing the status of corporate investment attraction centered on Yonghyeon Inno City Valley, laying the groundwork to realize its vision of a "business-friendly city" by establishing welfare facilities for workers and advanced industrial infrastructure.
Accordingly, on the 6th, the city visited CJ Medtech Co., Ltd. and the Corporate Support Center within Yonghyeon Inno City Valley. The purpose of this visit was to share updates on CJ Medtech's factory expansion, listen to the company's challenges, and check the construction preparation sites for the Complex Cultural Center and the Gyeonggi AI Innovation Cluster being established within the Corporate Support Center.
The city visited the construction site of Building D at CJ Medtech, which began in April last year, to inspect the progress and listen to the company's concerns.
CJ Medtech, a resident company in Yonghyeon Inno City Valley, possesses global-level manufacturing and quality capabilities in the domestic orthopedic implant research and manufacturing sector. The company is investing a total of 9.7 billion won to expand its production facility (Building D) to three above-ground floors. Upon completion of this expansion in February, the annual production volume is expected to increase from the current 200,000 units to over 600,000 units, representing an increase of approximately 300%.
The city will continue to provide administrative support until the construction is completed without setbacks, so that this investment not only expands facilities but also leads to local job creation and the strengthening of the medical device industry base.

At the Corporate Support Center, the city also checked the status of the "Yonghyeon Complex Cultural Center," which is being established to enhance worker welfare.
This project, with a total budget of approximately 6.4 billion won, will expand the existing center from one basement level and one above-ground floor to two above-ground floors, nearly doubling its total floor area. The second floor will house spaces such as a Youth Startup Support Center, fitness room, club room, and one-day class zone, creating cultural and welfare spaces for both workers and citizens to enjoy together.
The city aims to begin full-scale construction in January with the goal of completing the project within the year, transforming the aging industrial complex into a vibrant space that attracts young talent.
On the first floor of the Corporate Support Center, the "Gyeonggi AI Innovation Cluster," which will be a key driver of Uijeongbu's future growth, will be established. This follows the project's selection in a Gyeonggi Province public contest last May.
This space, created with approximately 538 million won in provincial funding, will serve as a hub for providing AX (AI Transformation) solutions that redesign production and operations around AI to make the manufacturing-based industries of Uijeongbu, Yangju, Pocheon, Dongducheon, and Yeoncheon more intelligent, autonomous, and highly efficient.
Additionally, there will be independent spaces for four companies, educational facilities, and shared offices, with plans to foster AI startups tailored to regional demand.
