Silla University Student Yoonho Jeon Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation for University Saemaul Club Activities

Silla University Saemaul Club Wins Excellence Award at Year-End Evaluation
Community-Based Volunteer Activities Receive High Praise

Silla University (President Heo Namsik) announced on January 6 that Yoonho Jeon, a student in the Department of Nursing, received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation at the '2025 University Saemaul Club Year-End Evaluation Competition'.

This event, organized by the Saemaul Undong Central Association, is held to share the annual achievements of university Saemaul clubs and their advisors nationwide, as well as to discover and award outstanding cases. The '2025 University Saemaul Club Advisor Workshop and Year-End Evaluation Competition' took place on December 20 of last year.

At the event, the Silla University Saemaul Club was selected for the Excellence Award in recognition of its diverse volunteer activities focused on community contribution. In particular, Yoonho Jeon, the president of the club and a nursing student, was honored with the Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation for exemplary leadership and dedicated volunteer service.

The Silla University Saemaul Club has consistently carried out community-based volunteer activities, including ▲ local environmental cleanup (plogging) ▲ smartphone education for the elderly ▲ operating a 'Carbon Neutral Environmental Experience Class Visiting Schools' for youth ▲ assisting with farm work ▲ and providing blood pressure checks and hypertension prevention education for village seniors.

Professor Jang Heejung, advisor to the Silla University Saemaul Club, said, "I am very proud of President Yoonho Jeon and the club members for demonstrating the importance of practical service to the community as university students," adding, "I hope these activities will continue."

Yoonho Jeon commented, "I believe this result was achieved by working hard in the field together with the club members," and added, "As a university student, I will strive to bring about positive change in the community through small acts of service."

Professor Han Jiyeong, advisor in the Department of Nursing, said, "Yoonho Jeon has been consistently active in various fields such as environment, education, and welfare, based on a spirit of service and cooperation," adding, "It is especially meaningful that his sincere participation and dedication have led to this ministerial commendation."
