The Ministry of National Defense will request an investigation into those involved in the establishment of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martial Law Situation Room and the dispatch of the Defense Intelligence Command to the National Election Commission during the 12·3 Martial Law.
On January 6, the Ministry of National Defense's Constitutional Respect and Government Innovation Task Force (TF) announced that it plans to request the Defense Special Investigation Headquarters to investigate about ten individuals related to the formation of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martial Law Situation Room and the dispatch of the Defense Intelligence Command to the National Election Commission.
During the 12·3 Martial Law, former Minister of National Defense Kim Yonghyun reportedly appointed former Army Chief of Staff Park Ansu as Martial Law Commander and ordered the establishment of the Martial Law Situation Room. The Situation Room was set up inside the Joint Chiefs of Staff Command and Control Center. On the day martial law was declared, armed personnel from the Defense Intelligence Command were also dispatched to the National Election Commission and occupied its server room.
