Through the pledge, the three candidates officially promised to realize the values of democratic progressive innovation, to implement the "Jeonnam Education Bill of Rights," and to accept the results of the primary and abide by the principle of unification.
This primary will be conducted as a "citizen participation primary," where residents, not specific organizations, directly participate in selecting the candidate. The single candidate will be determined by combining the votes of the citizen nomination committee members and the results of public opinion polls, and the candidate with the highest number of votes will be confirmed as the final candidate without a runoff.
Looking at the primary schedule, recruitment of citizen nomination committee members will continue until January 30. The first debate will be held on either January 19 or 21, followed by the second debate on February 3. Voting by citizen nomination committee members will take place from February 4 to 9. The final single candidate is scheduled to be announced at 11 a.m. on February 10.
Any Jeonnam resident aged 16 or older can participate as a citizen nomination committee member. Applications can be submitted online or by completing an application form, and a membership fee of 1,000 won must be paid.
A representative of the nomination committee stated, "This primary is a process of returning Jeonnam education to the hands of the residents," and added, "We ask for your active interest and participation so that the single candidate for the Democratic Progressive Superintendent of Education can be selected by the choice of the people."
