The inauguration ceremony, held on December 30, was attended by Baek Kyungjae, Head of the Dongduk RISE Project Team, Oh Yoonkyung, Deputy Head, Kang Sumi, Director of the Living Lab RISE Center, as well as local activists, Dongduk Women's University students, and university officials.
The newly opened community center was established by the Dongduk RISE Project Team, which was selected for the Seoul RISE initiative, to facilitate smooth communication and collaboration between the university and the local community. Beyond simply providing a space, it will serve as a community hub where local activists from the Living Lab RISE Center and lifelong learners from the Lifelong Education RISE Center can freely interact and collaborate throughout the year.
In particular, since the Dongduk RISE project focuses on addressing local issues and advancing lifelong education, the center is expected to serve as a base for participants to discuss regional challenges and experiment with collaborative models across culture, arts, and daily life sectors.
Going forward, the Dongduk Living Lab RISE Center plans to use the Dongduk RISE Community Center as a base to promote local cultural revitalization, foster intergenerational cooperation, and implement programs linking local businesses, with a focus on Wolgok-dong in Seongbuk-gu.
Baek Kyungjae stated, "We will do our best to ensure that the Dongduk RISE Community Center becomes a place where the university's resources and the local community's experiences come together to create new possibilities," adding, "We hope that, centered around the community center, local activists will be able to engage in even more creative exchanges and collaborations in the future."
