Heo Jehong, CEO of L&F, delivered a New Year's address at the opening ceremony held at the Daegu headquarters on January 5, stating, "Over the past 25 years, through relentless challenges and change, we have grown into a company leading the secondary battery materials industry. Although we faced an unprecedented and harsh chasm, we ultimately broke through it, and now, on this foundation, we must achieve outstanding growth," he emphasized.
L&F has presented three core strategies for 2026 to achieve sustainable growth: ▲ successful mass production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) based on exceptional innovation, ▲ strengthening production process efficiency and cost competitiveness, and ▲ reinforcing the supply chain from a mid- to long-term perspective and innovating future business models.
CEO Heo stressed, "Our customers and the global supply chain expect our innovative technology and significant role," adding, "A revolutionary transformation of our organizational structure and management approach is needed to meet the demands of a new era."
Specifically, L&F plans to begin Korea's first mass production of LFP, leveraging its accumulated technology in the nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) cathode materials sector, and aims to secure fundamental cost competitiveness through the introduction of new technologies and new processes.
In addition, the company will strengthen its mid- to long-term supply chain competitiveness by expanding the value chain to include precursors and recycling, and bolster future growth engines through the development of next-generation cathode materials and expanded industry-academia-research collaboration.
Last year, L&F fully launched its "two-track strategy," covering everything from mid-nickel (Mid-Ni) and high-nickel (High-Ni) NCM to LFP cathode materials. Starting in the second half of this year, the company plans to begin mass production of LFP cathode materials at an annual scale of 30,000 tons, with phased expansion according to market demand.
On this day, CEO Heo cited the example of Amundsen, the first explorer to conquer Antarctica, stating, "We will overcome extreme challenges through clear goals, proven processes, and the collaboration of the best experts in each field." He further expressed his ambition, saying, "With the insight and experience gained from enduring the chasm, we will move forward vigorously in the Year of the Red Horse."
