[CES 2026] Doosan Bobcat Unveils Industry's First 'AI Voice-Controlled Construction Equipment'

Introducing Voice-Controlled Compact Equipment
Expanding AI Applications to Maintenance
Scott Park: "Setting a New Standard for Construction Sites"

Doosan Bobcat has unveiled a technology that allows construction equipment to respond immediately to operators' voice commands. This marks the first time that artificial intelligence (AI) voice control has been applied to actual equipment in the compact construction equipment industry.

On the 5th (local time), at the media day of CES 2026, the world's largest consumer electronics and information technology (IT) exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, Doosan Bobcat introduced next-generation compact construction equipment technologies, including AI-based voice control. The core feature is that operators can control the equipment without using their hands.

The AI voice control technology unveiled that day, called "Jobsite Companion," enables operators to perform more than 50 functions via voice commands, such as changing equipment settings, adjusting engine speed, and controlling lights and the radio. It also includes a feature that recommends optimal equipment settings based on the work being performed and the attachments in use. This technology is based on a large language model developed in-house by Doosan Bobcat. It is implemented as an onboard system with AI installed inside the equipment, allowing real-time responses even at construction sites with unstable network connectivity.

Joel Honeyman, Executive Director of Global Innovation, explained, "This technology lowers the entry barrier for new operators while enabling experienced operators to work faster and more accurately. It serves as if an expert is guiding you through the operation process."

Doosan Bobcat has also applied AI to maintenance. "Service AI" is an integrated support system for dealers and service technicians, providing repair manuals, warranty information, diagnostic guides, and previous maintenance cases for each equipment model in one place. By allowing users to access necessary information via voice or text input, the system aims to reduce repair time and minimize equipment downtime.

In addition, Doosan Bobcat introduced a modular high-speed charging standard battery pack compatible with any equipment manufacturer, concept equipment that can utilize various power sources, a radar-based collision warning and avoidance system, and next-generation display technology that shows equipment status and warning information on the operator's cabin window.

Scott Park, Vice Chairman of Doosan Bobcat, stated, "We are developing technologies that assist operators by combining AI, electrification, automation, and connectivity. We aim to change the standards of construction sites through technologies that are actually used in the field."

Doosan Bobcat will showcase these technologies at the Doosan Group exhibition hall starting from January 6, the official opening day of CES 2026.
