Pernod Ricard Korea announced on January 6 that it will launch 'Jefferson's Ocean,' the flagship lineup of the American premium whiskey brand Jefferson's Bourbon, in Korea for the first time. This whiskey has garnered global attention for its unique ocean-aging process.

Jefferson's Ocean is crafted using a distinctive aging method in which fully matured bourbon is loaded onto ships and sails to over 25 ports across five continents. During its journey, which crosses the equator twice, the spirit undergoes transformation and concentration as it is exposed to waves, sea breezes, and dramatic temperature fluctuations. This process creates a depth and complexity of flavor that cannot be achieved through traditional land-based aging. The voyage route even includes Masan, Korea, adding special significance for Korean consumers. Each bottle is assigned a unique voyage number, and detailed voyage records can be checked on the official Jefferson's website, making it a high-value collector's item.

The flavor profile of Jefferson's Ocean begins with notes of cr?me br?l?e and subtle sea breeze, followed by caramel, cinnamon, and espresso. The finish delivers a long and deep aftertaste with a sweet and savory balance of sea salt and caramel popcorn. The whiskey's character is especially enhanced when enjoyed neat or in an Old Fashioned cocktail.

Approximately 1.8 million bottles of Jefferson's Ocean are sold annually in the United States, and according to the 2024 IWSR, it ranked fourth among 96 global ultra-premium bourbon brands. It has also received numerous gold medals at major international spirits competitions, including the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the 2023 ASCOT (American Spirits Council of Tasters) Double Platinum, the 2025 New York International Spirits Competition, and the 2025 World Whiskies Awards.
