Sujeong District in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on January 6 that it will invest 50 million won by the second half of this year to install road safety facilities separating the bicycle lane and the roadway along a total 1.9 km section of Cheonggyesan-ro.

Seongnam City to Install Road Safety Facilities Along 1.9 km Section of Cheonggyesan-ro Seongnam City installs road safety facilities along a 1.9 km section of the Cheonggyesan-ro bicycle road. Provided by Seongnam City.

This measure aims to clearly separate the bicycle lane and the roadway, which are constructed on both sides of the two-lane Cheonggyesan-ro, from the drivers’ perspective in order to prevent traffic accidents and enhance user safety.

The installation of safety facilities along Cheonggyesan-ro will be carried out in two phases.

The first phase covers a 0.7 km section from 526-37 Godung-dong to 94-9 Sangjeok-dong, with construction completed in December last year.

In this section, a yellow solid line was painted to separate the bicycle lane from the roadway, and lane separators and delineator posts were alternately installed to improve driving safety.

The second phase covers a 1.2 km section from 94-9 Sangjeok-dong to 120-3 Sangjeok-dong, and the same type of road safety facilities will be installed as in the first phase.

An official from the district stated, "Once the safety facilities are installed throughout the entire section, Cheonggyesan-ro will be improved to a structure where the bicycle lane and the roadway are completely separated," adding, "This will create an environment where citizens can use the road safely."
