On January 6, Yonhap News reported that the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Criminal Investigation Unit has booked Professors A and B of KNSU without detention on charges including obstruction of business.

According to the report, Professor A is suspected of inflating the practical test scores of Professor B’s son, who applied for regular admission for the 2021 academic year.

The practical test at the time included a 10-meter shuttle run, standing long jump, and sit-ups. Professor A, who served as a supervisor, is alleged to have given favorable scores to Professor B’s son.

Although Professor B’s son was not a student-athlete, he was admitted to KNSU that year. The police reportedly suspect that Professor B may have made a request for special consideration.

The police received a related complaint in June of last year and conducted a search and seizure of the KNSU admissions student team in October.

It is also reported that, through reviewing the practical test footage obtained during the investigation, the police found evidence that the number of sit-ups performed by Professor B’s son had been inflated.

The police are expected to conclude their investigation soon and will decide whether to refer the two professors for prosecution.

Professors A and B did not respond to Yonhap News’ inquiries regarding these allegations.
