Sancheong County Recognized as 'Excellent Local Government' in Renewal Campaign

Secured a Special Grant of 50 Million Won

Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on January 6 that it has been selected as an 'Excellent Local Government' in the evaluation of the Republic of Korea's Renewal Campaign implementation performance.

This campaign, organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, was carried out nationwide as an environmental cleanup movement on two occasions in September and October of last year.

Externally, it aimed to contribute to the successful hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, while internally, it sought to improve the quality of residential environments by enhancing public living spaces.

Sancheong County conducted a variety of activities, including the county-level Renewal Campaign with the participation of the local government head, township-level campaigns, campaigns by social organizations, and the 'Clean Up My Neighborhood' campaign.

As a result, among 243 local governments nationwide, Sancheong County received high scores in categories such as environmental cleanup performance, promotion and education results, and resident participation, earning its place as an Excellent Local Government.

With this recognition, Sancheong County has secured a special grant of 50 million won.

County Governor Lee Seunghwa stated, "We will continue to promote this campaign so that it does not remain a one-time environmental cleanup effort, but rather becomes an ongoing initiative that benefits the lives of our residents."
