Gyeonggi-do Expands Family Care Allowance to 26 Cities and Counties... Up to 600,000 Won Monthly Payment

The number of cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do participating in the "Family Care Allowance" program will increase from 14 last year to 26 this year.

The Family Care Allowance is a program that provides up to 600,000 won per month, depending on the number of children, to relatives or neighbors who care for infants aged between 24 and 36 months. The program is being promoted to reduce the burden of childcare on families and to strengthen community-based care systems.

Applications can be submitted online from the 1st to the 15th of each month through Gyeonggi Civil Service 24 (gg24.gg.go.kr).

The start date for applications and activities will vary depending on the operational readiness of each city and county. Some areas, such as Seongnam, will begin the program in January 2026, while others, such as Yongin, will start accepting applications from February 2026.

Since the program will be implemented in phases according to the preparation schedule of each city and county, the exact application dates should be checked through the respective local government announcements.

Prior to the expansion, Gyeonggi-do recently held a briefing session on the Family Care Allowance program to inform city and county officials about major revisions and operational directions.

Kwon Moonju, Director of Child Care at Gyeonggi-do, stated, "The Family Care Allowance is an important policy to reduce the childcare burden on parents and to revitalize care communities within the region. As the number of participating cities and counties will be greatly expanded in 2026, we will do our best to ensure that more residents can benefit from the program through effective operation and management."
