New Year's Memorial Ceremony Held at Imjindaecheop Gyesasunuidan and Memorial Tower for the Patriots
The Jinju City Council in South Gyeongsang Province marked the official start of its 2026 legislative activities by holding a New Year's memorial ceremony at the Imjindaecheop Gyesasunuidan and the Memorial Tower for the Patriots.
On January 2, Chairman Baek Seunghung, along with Jinju City Council members and staff from the council secretariat, paid tribute to the noble spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs and national heroes through floral offerings and incense burning.
Chairman Baek expressed his commitment, stating, "We will do our utmost to carry on the noble spirit of sacrifice of our patriotic forebears so that all citizens of Jinju can enjoy a happy life."
At the New Year's greeting meeting held on January 5, council members and secretariat staff exchanged New Year's wishes, reaffirmed their resolutions for the Year of the Fire Horse, and celebrated council members who received the 2025 Local Legislative Service Award as well as public officials honored for their contributions to legislative development.
Chairman Baek Seunghung commented, "This will be an important time to calmly wrap up the remaining term of the 9th council and prepare for the next council," adding, "I will approach legislative activities with even greater sincerity and humility to meet the expectations and trust of our citizens."
Meanwhile, the Jinju City Council plans to hold a total of eight sessions this year, starting with the 271st extraordinary session from January 29 to February 4, followed by two regular sessions and six extraordinary sessions.
