On the 5th, one day before the opening of CES 2026, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, a robot stood in front of a laundry basket at the LG Electronics booth in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. This was the artificial intelligence (AI) home robot 'LG CLOiD' unveiled by LG Electronics. As CLOiD picked up a freshly laundered towel, the robot's fingers grasped the edge of the fabric. It folded the towel by lifting each corner, folding it precisely in half, and then folded it two more times. Although the final result was not as perfect as a human hand, it demonstrated that the robot could alleviate some of the repetitive burdens of household chores. The robot also adjusted its body height up and down to pick up clothes remaining in the laundry basket and placed them one by one into the washing machine. There were no instances of laundry falling to the floor or slipping from its grasp.

A demonstration was also held where the robot found and picked up a key placed beside a sofa in the exhibition space. Assuming the owner had left the key behind, the robot reached out and lifted it. In the breakfast preparation scenario, the robot moved in front of the oven, placed a bowl of croissant dough inside, and closed the door. When it approached the refrigerator, the door opened automatically, and the robot accurately located and retrieved a carton of milk from inside. Although the movements were not fast, the sequence was never disrupted. Reporters on site closely observed the robot's hands and movement paths throughout the demonstration.

The robot did not stop even after the demonstration. It acted as a docent, guiding visitors to key areas of the exhibition and explaining products and technologies. When visitors moved, the robot either led the way or stayed by their side, and the exhibition route continued to follow the robot. Since it stopped moving when someone was nearby, visitors had to maintain a certain distance from CLOiD. Nevertheless, during the pre-booth tour held one day before the opening of CES, the robot successfully fulfilled its role as the starting point and guide for the exhibition without any incidents.

From January 6 to 9, LG Electronics is operating a 2,044-square-meter exhibition hall at CES 2026 under the theme "Innovation in Tune with You." The booth connects various aspects of daily life-home, vehicle, gallery, and entertainment spaces-into a single flow, demonstrating how technologies and products are orchestrated around the customer.

At the entrance to the exhibition hall, a massive installation made from 38 wireless wallpaper TVs, the 'LG OLED Evo AI W6,' was suspended from the ceiling. These ultra-slim TVs, each just 9 mm thick, were arranged to appear as if floating in midair, and from certain vantage points, their screens merged into a single piece of media art. Visitors paused at designated spots to watch the screens align into one cohesive image.

In the "Zero Labor Home" zone, which recreated a residential space, LG CLOiD was integrated with AI home appliances. The household tasks performed by the robot were demonstrated in conjunction with AI appliances such as the refrigerator, oven, and washing machine. LG Electronics explained that the focus was on reducing repetitive and burdensome household chores.

The AI appliances worked together with the robot. The LG AI refrigerator learned usage patterns to adjust internal temperatures, while the WashTower equipped with an AI DD motor analyzed laundry weight, humidity, and fabric type to automatically adjust washing and drying intensity. All appliances were connected to the AI home hub 'ThinQ On,' which managed tasks such as detecting temperature changes in the refrigerator, recommending washing courses, managing air quality, and controlling lighting.

In the vehicle solutions zone, AI-based automotive technologies were demonstrated. The transparent OLED front glass displayed only the information needed for the driving situation. Seats equipped with in-cabin sensing technology analyzed the driver's gaze, and if the driver looked away for a certain period, the system switched to autonomous driving mode. In the rear seat area, features were introduced that recognized the scenery outside the window and recommended related photos and content.

In the TV exhibition area, the 2026 model OLED Evo AI W6 and the premium LCD TV 'Micro RGB Evo' were unveiled. Despite its all-in-one structure with built-in speakers, the OLED Evo AI W6 emphasized an ultra-slim design that fits closely to the wall. Visitors enjoyed over 4,500 pieces of content, including artworks and game illustrations, through 'LG Gallery Plus,' and experienced AI-generated images integrated with spatial designs.

In the entertainment zone, a gaming experience area was operated in collaboration with the global online community Reddit. High-resolution game videos were demonstrated on the OLED Evo AI W6 using wireless AV transmission technology, and racing games were available on the UltraGear Evo gaming monitor. In the music experience area, four new products from the wireless audio brand 'LG XBOOM,' developed in collaboration with musician will.i.am, were showcased.

The premium home appliance lineup 'LG Signature' was also unveiled. Demonstrations included refrigerators with AI voice recognition based on large language models (LLM), the Gourmet AI feature that recommends menus by recognizing ingredients, and the AI Browning Alarm that notifies users of cooking status. On the same day, LG Electronics declared the era of "AI in Action," where devices and spaces operate autonomously based on empathy intelligence. LG Electronics CEO Jaechul Ryu held the LG World Premiere event at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, stating, "We will set a new standard for future home life with a variety of solutions based on empathy intelligence."
