KakaoBank Receives Seoul City Commendation for Launching "Ansim Account" to Support Small Business Owners

KakaoBank Receives Seoul City Commendation for Launching "Ansim Account" to Support Small Business Owners

KakaoBank announced on January 5 that it has received a commendation from the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

KakaoBank explained that this recognition was the result of its participation in Seoul’s small business support initiatives, such as the "Ansim Account," which contributed to the development of the local economy. KakaoBank was acknowledged for its efforts to improve financial accessibility for small business owners in Seoul and to help alleviate their funding difficulties.

The "Ansim Account" is a non-face-to-face guaranteed loan in the form of an overdraft account, first introduced to the financial sector in March of last year through the "Ansim Account No. 1" project, a collaboration between KakaoBank and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. KakaoBank also participated in the "Ansim Account No. 2" project in August of last year, becoming the only financial institution to consecutively launch the "Ansim Account" twice.

Even though other financial institutions participated in the "Ansim Account No. 2" project, more than 30% of all customers chose KakaoBank. Of the total loan amount of 400 billion won for "Ansim Account No. 1 and No. 2," 260 billion won, or 65%, was executed through KakaoBank.

In particular, "Ansim Account No. 1" has been recognized as a representative success story of collaboration between local governments, regional credit guarantee foundations, and banks, and has served as the foundation for developing other public-private partnership models in different regions, including "Ansim Account No. 2."

In addition to the Ansim Account, KakaoBank and the Seoul Metropolitan Government have continued their cooperation by providing a wide range of customized funding tailored to customer needs, including for startups, job creation, and growth support. They plan to continue expanding financial support measures for small business owners in Seoul in the future.

A KakaoBank representative stated, "With this award as an opportunity, we will take the lead in inclusive finance so that more small business owners can enjoy tangible benefits."
