Beagloo Releases 2025 Short Drama Year-End Summary... All Top 10 Titles Are "Romance"

Late-Night Binge-Watching and Weekend Marathons Gain Popularity in South Korea

Spoon Labs' short drama platform Beagloo released its 2025 short drama viewing trend year-end summary on January 5.


Last year, Beagloo users worldwide watched more than 5 million hours of short dramas, with women aged 35 and older accounting for over half of the total viewership.


The romance genre overwhelmingly dominated short dramas. In major countries such as South Korea, Japan, and the United States, all of the top 10 most-viewed titles were romance. However, preferences within the romance genre varied by country. In South Korea and Japan, the most popular keywords were high-intensity, cold city man, kiss, youth, and makjang (over-the-top drama). In the United States, high-intensity, romantic, chaebol, fate, and pure love were the leading keywords.

In South Korea, more than 2 million hours of short dramas were watched, with the most active viewing taking place between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. During this time slot, viewership increased by up to 1.8 times compared to the daily average. On weekends, the number of viewers was 15.5% higher and total viewing time was 34% higher than on weekdays.


The most binge-watched short drama among Korean users was "Have to Do Share House 2." This title also ranked first among Beagloo's new releases in 2025, recording approximately 8.1 million views in its first 30 days after launch.
