On January 5, Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will create a public outdoor parking lot with a capacity of 150 spaces by the end of this year at Hightech Valley Neighborhood Park, located at 270-1 Sangdaewon-dong, Jungwon-gu, within the Seongnam General Industrial Complex (Hightech Valley).

This parking lot project is being promoted to improve convenience for both citizens using the park and employees working at Hightech Valley (3,658 companies, 42,651 people), following the change in July last year of the buffer green space (76,658 square meters) between Seongnam Hightech Valley and the residential area to a neighborhood park under the urban planning facilities.

The Hightech Valley Neighborhood Park parking lot will be built as a flat (surface) parking lot on a 7,500-square-meter site, with a total project cost of 2 billion won.

The city also plans to supplement landscaping around the parking lot and improve the scenery to maintain the green space ratio and create a pleasant park environment that citizens can enjoy.

In this regard, once the detailed design is prepared in March, a resident briefing session will be held to gather opinions, which will then be reflected in the design.

Afterward, the city will proceed with procedures such as amending the park development plan and obtaining approval for the implementation plan, and begin construction of the parking lot in June.

In promoting this project, the city took a comprehensive approach, considering factors such as the expected influx of population due to the planned redevelopment areas for Sangdaewon 1 and 3 Living Zones (102,325 square meters) and the reconstruction of the Sangdaewon Seongyeong Apartment Complex (currently 2,510 households), as well as the increased demand for park facilities.

A Seongnam City official stated, "We will prioritize citizen convenience and safety in creating parking spaces within the park, and do our best to ensure that Hightech Valley Neighborhood Park becomes an urban oasis for relaxation."
