Songpa District Mayor Seo Gangseok Begins New Year with Lunch for Building Management Staff Sung Gak-seok, Mayor of Songpa District, is having lunch and talking with the building management staff in the small conference room of the district office on the 2nd. Provided by Songpa District.

Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, the district has set “citizen-centered administration” as its policy goal and has continuously pursued improvements to the district office environment, which forms the first impression of public service. Initiatives such as reorganizing the civil service office, refurbishing outdated facilities, and strengthening the response system for malicious complaints have all been part of efforts to create a district office that citizens can visit comfortably.

The luncheon was held in the small conference room of the district office with 17 staff members, who shared boxed lunches. Employees ranging from those with one year of experience to veterans with 15 years on the job gathered to openly discuss the challenges they face on site and areas that need improvement.

Mayor Seo paid close attention to each worker’s daily routine, asking detailed questions about their working hours and conditions, and listened carefully to their stories from the field. One staff member who attended the meeting said, “It is encouraging that the mayor listened to us in person from the very first day of the year,” adding, “I will do my best this year as well to help ensure that the district office remains a comfortable place for both citizens and employees.”

Mayor Seo Gangseok stated, “A clean and safe district office is only possible because of those who quietly fulfill their roles on site,” adding, “I will make sure to review each of the issues raised today so that they lead to real improvements in the working environment.”
