Up to 200 won per 1㎥ for Reducing Usage by More Than 3%
Yongsan-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Park Heeyoung) is actively promoting participation in the city gas savings reward program, "K-Gas Cashback," to help ease the burden of heating costs during the winter and to spread a culture of energy conservation.
The K-Gas Cashback program is organized by Korea Gas Corporation and the Korea City Gas Association, both under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. K-Gas Cashback provides cash incentives to residential city gas users who reduce their gas consumption. The program is open to users on residential heating city gas plans (individual or central heating), while those on cooking-only plans are excluded.
Residents who wish to participate can apply through the K-Gas Cashback website (https://k-gascashback.or.kr), with the application period open until March 31, 2026.
The rewards are given if this year's city gas usage between December 2025 and March 2026 is reduced by at least 3% compared to the same period in the previous year (December 2024 to March 2025). Depending on the reduction rate, the reward per 1㎥ of city gas saved ranges from 50 won to a maximum of 200 won, and the refund amount is calculated based on the actual reduction in usage. The refund will be deposited into the applicant's registered account after a settlement process, expected between July and August 2026.
The K-Gas Cashback website also provides easy-to-follow city gas saving tips, such as turning off the heating valve in unused rooms and adjusting the boiler's hot water temperature.
Even if participants do not manage to reduce their gas usage after applying for the reward, there are no penalties, so any resident can participate without concern. By actively practicing energy conservation, participants can not only save on heating costs but also contribute to reducing carbon emissions and building a more sustainable society.
Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, "The K-Gas Cashback program is a practical policy that allows residents to reduce their heating costs through small actions in their daily lives. I hope many residents will participate without hesitation and directly experience the benefits of getting back what they save."
