The Mokpo Coast Guard has issued a "Caution" level safety accident risk advisory for the Jindo-gun area in South Jeolla Province from January 3 to January 5, in order to prevent tidal damage caused by the spring tide.

The safety accident risk advisory system is a measure established under the "Coastal Accident Safety Management Regulations" to alert the public and prevent accidents at dangerous locations and zones along the coast, such as piers, during specific periods when there is a risk of safety accidents due to worsening weather conditions or natural disasters. The advisory system is divided into three levels: Caution, Advisory, and Warning.

The "Caution" level is issued when there is a history of frequent or repeated incidents during specific periods, or when prior preparation is necessary.

During the "Caution" advisory period, the Coast Guard will strengthen both maritime and land patrols, focusing on risk-prone coastal low-lying areas such as coastal waters, ports, and rocky shores. In addition, the Coast Guard plans to make every effort to prevent coastal safety accidents through publicity and safety guidance activities, including announcements via local government, police station electronic displays, and public address systems.

A Mokpo Coast Guard official stated, "During the spring tide, when sea levels rise and currents become faster, please check tidal information frequently and refrain from marine activities if high water levels are expected."
